BHEL secures contracts worth over Rs 11,000 crore from Adani Power, share price optimistic

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received contracts worth more than 11,000 crore rupees from Adani Power and its subsidiary, Mahan Energyfor the development of three supercritical thermal power projects at Kawai, Rajasthan and Mahan, Madhya Pradesh.

What happened: BHEL on Monday said it has signed a contract with Adani Power and Mahan Energen. The contract, worth over Rs 11,000 crore (excluding GST), includes supply of equipment, supervision of erection and commissioning for three power plants of 2×800 MW capacity each at Kawai (Phase II), Rajasthan and Kawai (Phase III).

The projects are expected to be completed within 49 months for Kawai Phase II, 52 months for Kawai Phase III and 55 months for Mahan Phase III.

This latest contract comes just months after the company won major orders from Adani Group subsidiary. In June, the company won two orders from Adani Power worth Rs 3,500 crore each for construction of a 2×800 megawatt supercritical Mirzapur thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh and a 1,600 megawatt thermal power plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Price promotion: BHEL’s share price rose 0.95% to close at ₹299 on Monday’s market opening.
