Story

Zero George is an intimate complex of three historic homes and two brick carriage houses surrounding a tranquil and lush garden courtyard. All five buildings, dating back to 1804, have been meticulously renovated in recent years.

The hotel is named after Captain George Anson, a young commander of the HMS Scarborough who was tasked with protecting Charleston from pirates in the 18th century. The captain reportedly used his winnings from playing cards to finance the purchase of the original plot of land where Zero George now stands.

The historic hotel is located at 0 George Street, in the heart of Charleston’s historic Ansonborough district. It is just off East Bay Street, one block south of Calhoun and just a few blocks from Marion Square.
