Azraq Health Information System – Summary Report, First Half 2024 – Jordan

Facilities

I. Introduction

A Health Information System (HIS) has been implemented in Azraq camp since April 2014. The report for the first half of 2024 covers the period from December 30, 2023 to June 28, 2024 (Week 01 – Week 26). It includes data from all health facilities in Azraq camp that report weekly on the HIS. These include the IMC hospital, the IMC clinic in Village 5, the AMR comprehensive health facility and the AMR clinic in Village 2, as well as the reproductive health services provided by the IRC in Village 5 and the comprehensive health facility. The population used to calculate the indicators is the median for the reporting period; 41,421.

II. Mortality

In the first quarter of 2024, 34 deaths were reported from Azraq camp with a crude mortality rate (CMR) of (0.1/1,000 population/month; 1.6/1,000 population/year).

Of the 34 deaths, 8 (24%) affected children under 5 years of age, 6 of whom were newborns, with a neonatal mortality rate (NNMR) of 12.8/1,000 live births.

The most common causes of death were cardiovascular disease, neonatal deaths and cancer, with proportional mortality rates of 32%, 18% and 9% respectively.

Deaths reported in the HIS come from the central death registry of Azraq camp, which includes deaths within the camp as well as deaths in referral facilities outside the camp. However, the system does not record deaths outside the camp that did not follow the usual referral channels.
