Waco couple lied to get into their home; male suspect injured his victim with a knife during an altercation

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A domestic dispute quickly escalated into violence on the evening of Aug. 23 after a couple forcibly entered a Waco woman’s home and the male suspect slashed the victim’s neck with a knife while attempting to detain her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

William Allison, 40, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The Waco Police Department was first notified of the situation when officers received a domestic disturbance call around 7:19 p.m. stating that a woman – identified in the warrant as Maime Ortiz – was attempting to enter her ex’s residence to steal personal items, but was denied entry to the home by another woman, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, officers told Ortiz over the phone that the situation was outside of their jurisdiction because it was a civil case and she needed to schedule an appointment with a police officer for some community service. Ortiz reportedly said she understood and hung up.

Officers were later dispatched to the residence in the 900 block of South 17th Street after receiving additional information from dispatch, which said Ortiz called 911 again to tell dispatch she was “kicking down the door because she was on the lease and a person in the house wouldn’t let her in,” the affidavit states.

When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered Ortiz and her new boyfriend, identified in the warrant as William Allison, and were again informed that Ortiz would need to contact a police officer to get her belongings. Again, Ortiz told officers she understood.

Later that evening, around 8 p.m., police received another call, this time from the female victim inside the home. The woman told 911 dispatch that two people had forced their way into her home and that the male suspect had stabbed her in the neck, the affidavit states.

Officers were dispatched to the scene and found Ortiz and Allison on the property, the warrant states. Allison had an orange pocket knife in his pocket, the affidavit states. He was quickly taken into custody while the victim described the argument to officers.

According to the affidavit, Ortiz gained entry to the home by lying to the victim, telling her that Waco police had given Ortiz permission to enter the home. The victim said she complied and when the couple entered her home, she left the front door open because she felt unsafe. Ortiz then closed the door and the victim attempted to open it again.

The victim told officers that Allison grabbed the orange pocket knife as well as a silver steak knife from a nearby cabinet when he grabbed her from behind and she “felt” a knife at her neck. According to the affidavit, the victim suffered cuts when Allison pushed her out of the apartment.

However, Ortiz claimed that the victim pushed her as she tried to close the front door and that Allison merely intervened to prevent a fight. Ortiz claimed the victim cut herself outside the house.

Allison also told police that he removed the knives from their original location during the argument out of an excessive amount of caution and claimed that the victim was never forced out of the house but left the house on his own.

After hearing all the details of the story and quickly reviewing the evidence presented to them, officers arrested Allison.

The man is no longer listed as an active inmate at the McLennan County Jail.
