Spessard impresses in debut; leads Blue Hose at Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – The Presbyterian College women’s golf team concluded its competition at the Clemson Invitational with two rounds of play on Monday, August 26. Freshmen Sloane Spessard made an impressive collegiate debut, leading the team throughout the event.

The team scored 316 (+28) in the opening round and improved slightly to 311 (+23) in the second round. Their combined two-round score of 627 (+51) placed them 16th overall in the tournament.

Clemson, the host team, secured third place with a two-round total of 577 (+1). Meanwhile, Georgia Southern took the tournament title with a score of 572 (-18). Georgia Southern’s Louise Reau led the individual standings, finishing with a two-round total of 137 (-7).

Sloane Spessard finished the tournament with a draw of 47th Place after a two-round score of 152 (+8). In the second round, Spessard shot 74 (+2), making two birdies and one par 12.
Maddie Peake hit par nines twice and birdies twice in the first and second rounds, reaching a shared 60th place.th with a two-round score of 155 (+11).
– Also tied with 60 pointsth Was Sarah Boteler who competed as an individual. She shot par 14 times in the second round for a score of 77 (+5). Boteler finished the day with a two-round score of 155 (+11).
Sofia Carles finished the tournament with a two-round score of 159 (+15) and thus landed in a sharedth Place in the rankings. In both rounds of the day, Carles managed a par 10 and a birdie.
Lexy Petz bound for 87th place after a score of 80 (+8) in the second round, in which she shot 10 pars and one birdie. She finished the tournament with a score of 161 (+17) in two rounds.
Taylor Reaves rounded out the Blue Hose squad with 92and with a two-round score of 164 (+20) after hitting 11 pars and a birdie in the second round.

The Blue Hose will return to the course on September 16 and 17 for the Elon Invitational in Alamance, North Carolina.
