The Best Things You Missed During Country Living Color Week

Recently Country life The editors released our ultimate guide to the 100 best colors for every room, and that was cause for celebration. So we got to work on Color in the Country Week, a fun series on our Instagram (that’s @countrylivingmag) and TikTok (find us at @countrylivingmagazine) from August 19-24.

From red to jewel-toned purple, no color was left out in our ode to Roy G. Biv, the mnemonic we all learned in elementary school to remember the colors of the rainbow in the correct order.

Did you miss it? Don’t worry. You can always rewatch our Color in the Country Week posts on Instagram and TikTok. We’ve rounded up the highlights below.

PS: We’ve also compiled all of our best color-related content into one handy page on our website. Don’t forget to bookmark countryliving.com/color for later!

We turned our Instagram grid into a rainbow.

Did you notice the screenshot at the top of this article? That was our Instagram grid during Color in the Country Week. We know. It’s so cute.

The most popular post of the week was this carousel of blue rooms. And we revealed a fun fact: Did you know that the first Country life The logo was a strong (and very 70s) shade of blue?

We had a lot of fun giving this color a name.

This Instagram post received more than 1,600 reader comments asking you to “name this color.”

“Burnt custard. Duck yellow. Creamed mustard,” chimed in Paula Sutton of the popular account @hillhousevintage from across the pond. “Yellow brick road, doll hair, yellow rose of Texas, double yellow lines, yellow raincoat, when life gives you lemons… easy peasy,” ventured another.

We then voted on the most popular options on our Instagram stories. Freshly Churned won hands down with 74%. OM Ghee came in second with 14%, but this pun is the editors’ favorite and the best pun.

We created these fun shopping guides by color!

And in the end, we had a few tears in our eyes on TikTok.

Maribeth Jones, our Design Director, talked about her family’s kitchen renovation in this TikTok video and we all got a little emotional.

Also on Country lifeOn TikTok, Anna Logan, our senior living and style editor, gave us a lesson on the origin of haint-blue porch ceilings, while Anna Mahan, deputy commerce editor, tackled the juiciest topic of all: decorating with orange.
