The skies above Lincoln City will once again shine when the highly anticipated Fall Kite Festival takes place September 7-8. This popular annual event invites kite enthusiasts, families and visitors of all ages to experience the magic of kites soaring against the scenic backdrop of the Oregon Coast.
Known for its kaleidoscope of colors and intricate designs, the Lincoln City Fall Kite Festival takes place at the D River State Recreation Grounds. The festival promises a weekend of breathtaking kite displays, professional kite flying demonstrations, delicious food vendors and hands-on activities, including a kite-making workshop.
“Lincoln City’s Fall Kite Festival is a cherished tradition that brings our community and visitors together for a weekend of fun and creativity,” said Stephanie Hull, Explore Lincoln City’s event and outreach coordinator.
“This year’s event will also feature international flyers from Canada, Australia and Germany, so it is guaranteed to be a very special weekend full of bright colours and incredible kite displays.”
The Autumn Kite Festival is a free event for the public. While visitors are allowed to bring their own kites, they must fly them at off-festival locations on the beach or shore so that the professional kite flyers can show off their skills! Pets are welcome at the event, so feel free to bring your furry friends on a leash to enjoy the festivities.
Parking is available at the Lincoln City Community Center and Lincoln City Outlets. A free shuttle service will run throughout the day to transport attendees between these locations and the festival grounds.
