UK stocks lower at close of trading; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.04%

Investing.com – UK stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.

At the close of trading in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.04 percent.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 3.06% or 84.00 points to trade at 2,826.00 at the close. Meanwhile, BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 2.12% or 28.00 points to close at 1,348.00 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) rose 2.07% or 33.50 points to 1,651.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which fell 5.97% or 114.00 points to close at 1,796.50. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) fell 4.05% or 5.80 points to close at 137.30. NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) was down 3.26% or 11.40 points to close at 338.00.

On the London Stock Exchange, declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1,009 to 741, with 727 closing unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.49% or 12.50 to trade at $2,540.40 a troy ounce. In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery fell 1.11% or 0.84 to $74.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.88 to trade at $77.78 a barrel.

GBP/USD lost 0.53% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.

US dollar index futures rose 0.51% to 100.97.
