Woman sues Detroit Marriott, claiming hotel manager sexually harassed her

A woman is suing the owners of the Detroit Marriott Hotel, claiming she was sexually harassed by a manager last year.

On Monday, Marko Law filed a lawsuit in Wayne County Circuit Court in Detroit on behalf of a plaintiff identified only as TF. She seeks damages and the suit names Marriott International Inc., Detroit MHS LLC, Detroit Hotel Services and SODEXO Inc. as defendants.

In the complaint, she alleges that a hotel manager sexually harassed her on August 8, 2023. At the time, she was working at the hotel, which is located in the Renaissance Center.

“After Plaintiff TF’s shift ended around 1 p.m., she was invited to (the manager’s) hotel room under the pretense that other employees were present,” the lawsuit states.

The file states that the manager prepared an alcoholic drink and food for her.

The next day, she woke up disoriented in bed in her room and “discovered that her underwear was inside out and her menstrual product was missing,” the complaint states.

The complaint also states that the woman went to a clinic to collect evidence that was collected as part of a rape kit. An analysis of the DNA evidence collected showed that it matched the manager, the document states.

The woman’s lawyers claim that the hotel made the plaintiff’s working conditions “so unbearable that she was forced to quit.”

Representatives of Marriott International were not immediately available for comment on Wednesday.
