APSU Soccer heads to face Murray State – Clarksville Online

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, Tennessee: – After finishing the second week of the season as the only undefeated team in the Atlantic Sun Conference, the Austin Peay State University football team heads north for its first away game of the season, a 3 p.m. Thursday match against Murray State at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky.

Austin Peay (2-0-1) played UT Martin to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, with Ellie Dreas scoring the equalizer off a corner kick in the 58th minute. The APSU Govs previously earned a 1-0 win over Chattanooga on Aug. 22 and a 2-1 win over Western Kentucky on Aug. 15 in the postseason.

Dreas leads the Govs with two goals on the season after Sunday’s result. All four of APSU’s goals on the season have also come from other players. Alec Baumgardt is the only member of the team to have a goal and an assist in the opening period, including an assist against WKU and the game-winner against UTC.



Goalkeeper Lauryn Berry has made the most of her first season as a starter. The sophomore is currently tied in the ASUN for the highest goals-against average (0.67) and most minutes played (270), and is third in the league for most saves (18) and shutouts (one).

Murray State (1-2-1) played to a scoreless tie against Arkansas State on Sunday after losing a 2-1 game to #19 Xavier last Thursday.

The Racers’ leading scorers are Breece Bass, who scored two goals. Bass also recorded MSU’s only assist of the season.

Griselda Revirio has played all four of Murray State’s games so far, has a save percentage of .828 with 24 shots saved and allows 1.25 goals per game.

What you should know

Austin Peay State University is undefeated through its first three games of the season for the second time under head coach Kim McGowan and for the first time since McGowan’s first season at the helm in 2022.

The Governors are the only undefeated team in the ASUN conference.

Ellie Dreas leads the team with her two goals this season and ranks third in the ASUN.

Alec Baumgardt ranks third in the ASUN with ten shots and sixth with four shots on goal.

Lauryn Berry has the best goals-against average in ASUN with 0.67 and is currently third in the league with 18 saves.

APSU is undefeated through its first four games for the first time since a 5-0-1 start to the 2013 season.

For head coach Kim McGowan, it is the 45th win as coach and the 11th as head coach of the Govs.
