Expert reveals what to order at McDonald’s if you want to lose weight, but not everyone agrees

Warning: This article contains a discussion of calorie counting that some may find disturbing

The days of having to eat salad for breakfast, lunch and dinner are over… that’s what an expert says. He has revealed that you can actually enjoy eating at McDonald’s while on a diet.

It may sound too good to be true when you think of a Big Mac Combo Meal

has 1,120 calories – and that’s for a medium portion, who the hell eats a medium portion?

Let’s face it: most of us order our fast food in huge portions, and a large portion, plus a Coca-Cola and fries, contains 1,320 calories.

For anyone currently counting calories or simply looking to eat a little healthier, UK-based personal trainer and fat loss coach Rosi May has explained how you can still order fast food and, most importantly, enjoy it.

In an Instagram post shared with her 230,000 followers, Rosi said: “Here’s how you can lose weight by eating at McDonald’s. And don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you to swap your burger for a salad because nobody goes to McDonald’s to eat a salad.”

“And I don’t expect you to replace your beef burger with a plain chicken burger. I’m going to show you some equivalent substitutes you can make.

“If you watch my videos, you know by now that you need to maintain a calorie deficit if you want to lose weight.”

A calorie deficit simply means that you burn more calories than you consume.

She continued, “Meal number one, we have large portions of French fries, a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese, and a large full-fat Coke. In total, this meal has 1,385 calories, which for most people is a large portion of their daily calories.

“So how can you still enjoy a McDonald’s meal but with a lot fewer calories?

“The simplest swap is to switch from a full-fat Coke to a Coke Zero or a Diet Coke, which means you save 212 calories.”

The personal trainer then suggests “swapping the large fries for medium fries,” which will also save you about a dollar.

But she wasn’t finished yet, Rosi added: “And then at the end you swap your Double Quarter Pounder with cheese for a Double Cheeseburger.”

“In total, you’ll save over 500 calories and still be able to treat yourself to a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink. But that won’t burn all your calories for the day.

“And so you can still enjoy things like McDonald’s during your weight loss journey. But it doesn’t have to be boring, you just have to be smart about it.”

While many praise Rosi for her useful advice, not everyone seems to agree.

On Twitter, one user said: “This is called ‘eating smaller portions.'”

While someone else suggested: “Leave out the fries.”

As with many things in life, everything is fine in moderation!
