The queen of hair transformations is at it again – that’s right, Megan Fox is rocking a new hairstyle and this time it’s inspired by the Wild West.
Dubbed the “cowgirl bob,” this style is a fresh take on the pixie and bob styles that have been pretty much everywhere over the past year. Fox’s go-to hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, debuted the cut—not to mention the new “Espresso Martini” hair color—on Instagram, and the comments section is, as you’d expect, completely obsessed.
“Megan Fox has been at the forefront of every hair trend, both in cut and color, but this rich, tousled espresso bob might be my favorite on her yet!” says Clara Purvis, stylist and founder of Noordwyck Salon & Blue Dunes Beauty. “It’s an effortless, flirty bob with loose texture and soft French bangs.”
With summer just around the corner, it’s no surprise that short haircuts are back in style. Read on to learn how to pull off this style and discover your inner cowgirl.
What is a cowgirl bob?
Fox’s style includes thin French-girl bangs with blunt, chin-length ends. A messier version of the iconic bob, if you ask for it at the salon, you can show a few inspirations and reference pictures of these styles to give your stylist a better guide.
“The shape is mostly an even-length bob with just a few soft, textured layers at the ends, combined with graduated French bangs that flow into a face-framing style that skims the cheekbones,” says Purvis.
How do I style a cowgirl bob?
When styling, Purvis recommends a less-is-more approach to accentuate the natural texture. “Always use a heat protectant like Davines Melu Hair Shield to start, then rough-dry the hair to give it a casual feel,” says Purvis. “Straightening it where it needs to be straightened will allow you to focus primarily on styling the bangs and leave the rest more tousled and natural.”

What color is Espresso Martini’s hair?
A departure from Fox’s recent vibrant hair colors, the espresso martini shade is a “gorgeous chocolate brown with lots of shine,” says Chase Kusero, co-founder of IGK Hair Care. Although some people opt for lightened strands in the front, Fox’s stunning version starts with this rich brown color as a base and adds smaller highlights in bright chestnut brown.
Kusero recommends achieving this color using IGK Permanent Color Kits in Bold Brown and finishing with an IGK Color Depositing Mask for added shine and shimmer.
When changing your hair color, it’s important to take extra care to make sure your new hairstyle looks as amazing as possible. Luckily for us, Giannetos shared an Instagram video explaining how he helped Fox keep her hair healthy throughout all of her hair transformations (seriously, there were a lot).
