MSU Denver launches new tool to help Roadrunners navigate election season

MSU Denver launches new tool to help Roadrunners navigate election seasonAs we head into this year’s election season, Metropolitan State University of Denver has a new tool to help Roadrunners make their campaign productive on campus.

The new MSU Denver Civic Guide offers a wealth of resources for voting and civic engagement, including campus-specific information on advocacy and engagement. The tool was developed after Roadrunners who attended listening sessions and shared their opinions during the spring protests called for clearer information and guidelines.

“One of the areas where potential emerged from feedback last spring was the need for clear and transparent information, and this guide is intended to help address that issue,” said Andrea Smith, assistant vice president of strategic communications.

Do’s and Don’ts for employees

The guide also provides MSU Denver employees who are also state employees with the information they need to comply with state laws regarding political activity in the workplace.

“We want to make sure you have the laws, policies, guidelines and best practices at your fingertips at all times so that everyone knows what actions and advocacy are appropriate in their capacity as a state employee and what are appropriate as individuals,” Smith said. “In order to foster civil discourse and productive advocacy on campus, it is very important that we as employees are familiar with this.”

At MSU Denver, open dialogue is essential to education, and our commitment to free expression comes with a responsibility to respect the rights of others.

Watch for new resources and information in the Civic Guide throughout the election season.
