FREELOADER CONSTRUCTION

The Rapala Crush City Freeloader, developed by Major League Fishing pro Jacob Wheeler, is a versatile shad lure for all anglers. Its high, flat sides and unique ribbed pin tail create a subtle, enticing quivering action that is ideal for spinnerbaits, vibrating jigs or scrounger heads. This lure is also extremely effective with a small jig head and forward-facing sonar. The Crush City Freeloader features Smart Injection Technology, which ensures optimal distribution of color, flake, salt and scent in each lure. With a wide range of professional colors selected by Jacob Wheeler himself, this lure is designed for maximum effectiveness and endless rigging possibilities.

MY FAVORITE FEATURES

I have been using the Crush City Freeloader since it was released earlier this year. While testing this lure, I have discovered a variety of features that I really like. I am a self-professed fishing snob, so I only use lures that I truly believe in and trust. The Crush City Freeloader meets all of my needs for a subtle shad imitation lure. One of my favorite features about the Crush City Freeloader is its flat, high sides.

These flat sides allow the lure to roll as it moves through the water column. This is true whether you are fishing the lure fast or slow, and it is perfect for imitating an injured baitfish moving through the water column. This flashing action is perfect for attracting bass from further away, and I firmly believe it increases the lure’s attraction. Not only does this lure have a great action, but its versatility allows you to rig it in a variety of ways.

FREELOADER APPLICATIONS

I have used the Rapala Crush City Freeloader in a variety of ways, but my absolute favorite is on a jighead. Throwing this lure on a lightweight tungsten jighead will simply get you a bite. This presentation is perfect for targeting suspended fish, schools, brush, and numerous other types of cover. This is an extremely popular presentation throughout the United States, and the Freeloader has quickly become a standard minnow-style lure for the vast majority of bass anglers. While this lure works just fine on a jighead, it also makes a fantastic spinnerbait and vibrating jig trailer.

I use a variety of different trailers depending on the depth and action I want. The Crush City Freeloader works great when fishing deeper in the water column and has a subtle action. Traditional boat tail swimbaits make the bait rise in the water column, while the tapered tail of the Crush City Freeloader helps keep the bait down. The Freeloader also adds a slight wobble to both a spinnerbait and a vibrating jig. This is a great way to add a little more action to your favorite moving skirted bait.

The Rapala Crush City Freeloader is an all-around fishing machine and should be in every tackle box. Whether you’re a diehard electronics fisherman or a traditional bank angler, the versatility and fish-catching feature of the Freeloader is sure to put a fish in your boat. If you’re looking for a unique minnow with unmatched action, I highly recommend checking out the Rapala Crush City Freeloader.
