Travis Scott released without charge after arrest in Paris hotel, say officials

Travis SCott was released from custody without charges following an altercation with a hotel security guard.

“Travis Scott has been released without charge,” a spokesperson for the “My Eyes” rapper wrote in an emailed statement to USA TODAY on Saturday morning. Paris police officials confirmed the news in a separate email to USA TODAY.

In a translation of the email, Paris authorities said the case was “closed” and Scott’s detention ended on Saturday.

The “Sicko Mode” rapper was initially taken into custody early Friday for allegedly attacking a security guard at Paris’ luxury Georges V hotel after the guard tried to break up a fight between Scott and his bodyguard, French prosecutors confirmed to USA TODAY on Friday.

“Unspecified violence”

Scott, 33, was arrested for “unspecified acts of violence,” prosecutors said, adding that an investigation had been launched.

“We are in direct contact with local Paris authorities to quickly resolve this matter,” a Scott spokesperson said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY on Friday.

On Thursday, the “Goosebumps” rapper sat in the stands with Migos alumnus and “Greatness” hitmaker Quavo to watch the Olympic men’s basketball semifinal match between the U.S. team and the Serbian team.

Recent problems for Travis Scott

The Paris incident is the Houston native’s second arrest in recent months. In June, he was arrested in Miami following an alleged incident at a marina. The rapper was booked into a Miami-Dade County correctional facility on charges of trespassing and drunken driving, online records show.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to a disturbance on one of the yachts where people on the vessel were fighting. Authorities said they saw Scott standing at the dock and yelling at people on board. When officers contacted the rapper, he “kept getting up” and ignored commands to sit down. His breath smelled strongly of alcohol, police said.
