Up-and-coming publisher 247 Comics is launching its latest comic series, Zero Ghost, on Kickstarter this week. It follows Kira Kaine, who is celebrating her 18th birthday until unknown enemies massacre her family. She manages to break free and somehow gains powers by bonding with an angel of death named Shrike. However, the more she uses his powers, the more her soul burns away.
The series was created by Justin Jordan (The strange talent of Luther Strode), Brian Ching (Star Wars: Obsession and Knights of the Old Republic) and Wil Quintana (Superman, Blue Beetle).
The Kickstarter campaign launches on August 8, 2024 and will be available through Zero Ghost’s Kickstarter page. Pledges include exclusive physical editions, with the project representing the second comic series from 247 Comics. (The first was Evermind.)
During San Diego Comic-Con, 247 Comics partnered with Veve to offer San Diego Comic-Con attendees exclusive Zero Ghost #1 issues with artist signatures at the VeVe Comics booth. The digital release of the first issue of Zero Ghost was also made available on July 27th through VeVe, the platform for digital collectibles, comics and artwork.
As for Kickstarter, the first 300 backers will receive an exclusive Zero Ghost #1 Artist Edition on VeVe via a free redemption code. The digital versions will not be available again.
“I’ve always had a vision of being part of something that would allow me to use both sides of my brain,” Justin Jordan says of his relationship with 247 Comics. “As we roll out this company in all the unconventional ways, I’m excited to help develop this new way of thinking about what a comics studio could look like.”
“There was something about Justin Jordan’s writing style that I loved,” adds Brian Ching. “I think it’s because he focuses on style as much as he does on characters and plot. It’s hard for me to put it into words, but it felt a little bit like John Woo, a little bit like John Wick, a little bit like John Carpenter. In short, ZERO GHOST was pretty damn cool!”
