This has been a month full of crazy comic moments. The X-Men find a mutant whose gift was only discovered as an adult (X-Men No. 2 by Jed MacKay). Magnus runs away instead of fighting with his Autobot teammates (Transformers No. 11 by Daniel Warren Johnson). And while Gotham City Sirens #2 by Leah Williams, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Catwoman are captured by Punchline.
These are just the first glimpses. Next up are the five most important comic moments of the week.
Marc Spector was tired of blindly killing people on Khonshu’s orders and made it a point to avoid doing so. Unfortunately, it is a promise to himself that he cannot keep. At the end of The Revenge of the Moon Knight No. 8: Khonshu orders Marc to kill the Shroud.
After Moon Knight’s death, Shroud became Moon Knight and destroyed everything Marc represented. Marc may not want to kill, but he owes Khonshu the resurrection (Blood Hunt No. 4 and The Revenge of the Moon Knight (No. 7) How the rest of the Midnight Mission reacts to Marc’s next move will affect the rest of his life.
Miles Morales’ vampirism was not cured in the end Blood Hunt. Although it seemed like Miles might be able to add vampire powers to his already growing abilities, they came with a curse. Miles’ venom energy helps keep his vampire urges in check. However, if he uses too much of it, it could kill him. We’ll have to watch closely to see how long this lasts. Miles’ venom powers are a big part of his identity as Spider-Man.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continue to roll after The Armageddon Game. When the Ninja Turtles disbanded, someone had to protect Mutant Town. The Night Watchman stepped in to fill the void. But who is the Night Watchman? It’s none other than Jennika. She may have promised Sheena that her masked days are over, but someone has to protect the people from the bullies.
Some Spider-Man fans hate what Amazing Spider-Man is done with Peter Parker. Just as he and Mary Jane Watson are starting a new and happy life, it is taken away at the beginning of the season. Now, at least for the moment, people can forget that MJ and Peter are a couple again. Peter is now dating Ravencroft employee Shay Marken.
That’s a good thing. As much as we want Peter Parker and Mary Jane to be together, change is good. Plus, there’s no guarantee it will last forever. Plus, this could be a better relationship.
The fight between Zeus and Thor was no disappointment. It begins with Zeus throwing lightning bolts at Thor and the God of Thunder telling the bolts to back away (which they do). Finally, Hercules tells Thor to hold on and he does.
Thor not only absorbs the lightning, he also takes all of Zeus’s power. Thor leaves the Greek god exhausted and emaciated. Now Thor seems to be the true Allfather and ready to fight the elder gods. But he comes at a price. Hercules doesn’t like what he hears in Thor’s voice after the fight is over.
