Fall is coming whether you’re prepared for it or not. A Pennsylvania town has been named one of the most beautiful fall colors in America by the experts at Reader’s Digest. With fall right around the corner, you know the leaves will be here sooner than we think, so you might as well welcome the end of summer and start planning some fall color displays.

The experts at Reader’s Digest just released their highly anticipated ranking of the best places in America to see fall colors. While some of these places offer great fall colors every season, others are new because the colors are a little different each year depending on the climate in those areas. The cool thing about Reader’s Digest’s list is that it includes great areas to see fall colors as well as select locations for fall activities. “While brilliant fall color was the main requirement, we focused on places with plenty to see and do,” they explain. “Whether you’re staying at a five-star resort, a small-town bed and breakfast, or a cute cabin, a great seasonal getaway awaits.”

So, where is the best place in America to see the most beautiful fall colors this year? According to Reader’s Digest, it’s the Payette River Scenic Byway in Idaho that comes in first. The Payette River Scenic Byway is an exceptional place for “wildlife lovers and thrill seekers.” Why thrill seekers? Well, the area offers whitewater rafting, hiking, and other thrilling experiences, so it’s kind of an all-in-one deal. Of course, the fall foliage is beautiful, as there are a ton of gorgeous forests and national parks in the area.

Luckily, you don’t have to travel that far to see great fall colors. The experts at Reader’s Digest rank Bucks County, Pennsylvania as the second best place in the country for fall colors. They also say that this is a great area for “history buffs and shopaholics.” Isn’t everyone a shopaholic? What makes Bucks County special are its “scenic country roads and snapshots from scenic covered bridges.” Of course, if you’re interested in history, you can also delve into the long Revolutionary War past. Bucks County also has plenty of great shopping and dining options. I’m glad that this place is considered one of the best places for fall colors in America. It’s worth noting that the travel experts at VisitPa.com also highlight the Allegheny National Forest as a great area for fall colors.
