On August 16, a Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 (registration D-AIXG) operated flight LH714 from Munich to Tokyo-Haneda in Japan. When the plane flew over the Caspian Sea after about four hours of flight time, the pilots decided to return to Munich.
More than eight hours after the original takeoff, the plane landed safely at Munich Airport and was awaited by rescue workers. The reason for the return – whether due to weather conditions caused by Typhoon Ampil, which is currently raging through Tokyo, or a minor technical problem – is currently unknown.
