After a four-hour flight, a Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 returns to Tokyo-Haneda in Munich

On August 16, a Lufthansa Airbus A350-900 (registration D-AIXG) operated flight LH714 from Munich to Tokyo-Haneda in Japan. When the plane flew over the Caspian Sea after about four hours of flight time, the pilots decided to return to Munich.

More than eight hours after the original takeoff, the plane landed safely at Munich Airport and was awaited by rescue workers. The reason for the return – whether due to weather conditions caused by Typhoon Ampil, which is currently raging through Tokyo, or a minor technical problem – is currently unknown.

After working in the aviation industry for 25 years, I changed careers in 2021 and became a firefighter/emergency doctor. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my two sons, my girlfriend, my family and friends. I like to travel, eat well and support my favorite football team KV Mechelen. I have completed the Ironman 70.3 once and dream of completing the full distance.
