After an eight-year legal battle, Matt and Emily Meyers of Paoli won $10 million in their lawsuit against Certified Guaranty Company.

After an eight-year legal battle, Paoli couple Matt and Emily Meyers won $10 million in their lawsuit against Certified Guaranty Company, the international comic book rating giant, write Milan Varia and Emily Bloch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The couple, who restore old comic books, became so good at their job that they were accused by the Certified Guaranty Company of falsifying the results of their projects. This accusation led to a dramatic decline in their business and prompted the couple to sue the company for defamation.

At the time, the Meyers were fighting for survival. They had to sell their restored comics below their value and refund their former customers.

But then they finally got some good news. A jury in Philadelphia ruled in the couple’s favor and ordered the world’s largest and most influential comic book publisher to pay them $10 million.

The Meyers are now trying to relax after their emotional journey is over.

“We will be hanging out with our four Pomeranians and spending time with our supportive family and friends who have been there for us this whole time,” said Matt Meyers.
