An Air India flight AI129 from Mumbai to London had to return to Mumbai on Wednesday due to a technical problem. The aircraft, which departed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), landed safely in Mumbai where it underwent a preventive check.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident and said, “Air India flight AI129 from Mumbai to London was forced to return to Mumbai due to a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely in Mumbai for precautionary checks. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our guests due to this unexpected disruption.”

To mitigate the disruption, Air India has made alternative arrangements to enable passengers to continue their journey to London. In addition, the airline offered a full refund of airfares to those who cancelled their tickets. “We have already made alternative arrangements to fly the passengers to their destination. Guests have also been offered a full refund on cancellation and free rebooking to another date if they so wish,” the spokesperson added.

In another incident on the same day, an Air India flight from Goa to Mumbai with 116 passengers on board had to abort its takeoff due to a bird strike at Dabolim airport. The incident occurred at 6:45 am, just as the flight was getting ready to take off. A senior airport official reported, “The takeoff was aborted immediately and the aircraft was parked in the bay for further investigation.”

These incidents underline the airline’s commitment to the safety of its passengers and Air India stresses that the well-being of its customers and crew remains its top priority.
