Air India launches direct flight between Bengaluru and London Gatwick

Air India’s nonstop service between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) began on Sunday.

With the commencement of flights on this route, Bengaluru becomes the fifth Indian city to be connected to the UK’s second-busiest airport and the first Indian city to be directly connected to London’s two largest airports – Heathrow and Gatwick.

British Airways and Virgin Atlantic already offer direct flights from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to London Heathrow Airport.

With the launch of this new connection, there will now be 19 weekly flights between the two cities.

The new route includes five weekly flights and offers improved connections for business and leisure travelers.

Air India’s five weekly flights between KIA and London Gatwick bring the total number of flights from India to London Gatwick to 17 per week.

Air India will operate its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on this route, which has 18 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 238 spacious seats in Economy Class.

The first flight took off from KIA on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.

According to Air India, flight AI177 will depart Bengaluru at 1.05 pm and arrive at London Gatwick at 7.05 pm (local time). From London Gatwick, flight AI178 will depart at 8.35 pm (local time) and arrive at Bengaluru at 10.50 am (arriving the next day). From Bengaluru, the flight will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
