An artist’s “negative images” that turn into color after switching the camera mode will blow you away

There is something beautiful about art and its various techniques and methods. With so many different ways and perspectives of creating art, there is a lot to explore and understand in each masterpiece. German artist Melvin (@me_melke1) has been stunned people with his unique technique of ‘negative painting’, also known as ‘inverted painting’. Recently, he shared a video revealing the mind-boggling process and leaving us speechless. Negative art follows a different process than regular painting techniques. When a negative filter is applied to a piece of art or any object, the darker part becomes inverted and lighter and vice versa, according to Niek Travels.

The process of negative filtering is commonly used in photography, but artists also use this method to achieve unique results in their paintings. The basic idea is to paint on a white canvas with shades and tints of one or two colors to create the negative effect of the image and then convert it into color using a filter. This is similar to applying the negative filter on the original color, only in reverse to achieve the opposite result. Melvin has practiced this authentic process. In his video, Melvin can be seen painting lips and a tongue with negative effect on a canvas. All the colors are shades of blue, black, gray and white to create depth and a luminous effect.

He adds more details to the object and the background until the white canvas turns into a negative painting. The artist is seen painting in natural light and adding the negative effect manually. The result is a great painting of the lips and tongue in black and blue tones. However, at the end of his video he manages to add color. Without touching the canvas, he simply switched his camera’s lighting to negative and the canvas changed.

From normal lighting, the room went into negative lighting. The walls, appliances, and other materials took on a blue hue. The entire room was inverted from color to negative effects. What was left to see was the canvas change. Melvin had already painted his work in negative, so applying the filter inverted it into a colorful work. With bright reds, pinks, and peaches, the painting became visible in multiple colors. How he mastered this challenging inversion technique still amazes us! “I don’t really understand it, but it was fun,” he wrote in his caption.

The video has been viewed over a million times and people have been expressing their amazement in the comments section. @helene_thie said: “How cool, especially when you flipped it back at the end.” @heart.light.color added: “This is so cool!! Couldn’t wait for the reverse version.” @zap_1989 exclaimed: “This is by far the most impressive thing I’ve seen in a long time.” @sorayatdz added: “I’m blown away just looking at it.” @liniscooler noted: “I’m always amazed at how amazing it looks at the end, wow.”
