An important new weapon will be added in the next wipe of “Escape From Tarkov”

The next Escape from Tarkov Wipe isn’t here yet and no release date has been confirmed, but the developers are still teasing new content. The latest post highlights a major new weapon that’s set to arrive in the next few days.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, game director Nikita Buyanov published an image of a screen showing a Tarkov Figure holding a Desert Eagle-style pistol at the shooting range, a weapon not currently in the game. The post didn’t include any text, but in recent weeks Buyanov has been hinting at new features set to be introduced with the wipe.

We already know that there will be some new weapons coming with the patch that comes with the wipe. For example, the TarkovTV stream that announced the wipe showed the M60 machine gun and the Uzi submachine gun. However, this looks like another addition coming with the latest patch and could prove divisive.

Usually in games, pistols of this style are incredibly powerful, use large ammo and have strong recoil. In some games they have killed players with just one shot, and something with this power in Tarkov could prove problematic if fraudsters manage to use it efficiently. As someone who basically never carries a gun in Tarkovthis could be a weapon that has enough power to be used as a sidearm in some situations.

This isn’t the first damage-dealing item that has been teased in recent days. Buyanov also teased the introduction of Molotov cocktails, alongside the new boss who will have tripwires at his disposal. On their own, these aren’t major new features, but new toys to play with are always welcome in Tarkovand these certainly seem to be pretty fun additions.

We know a lot about the new wipe, but we don’t know when it will appear. It was originally scheduled to launch last week, then we were told to wait for the wipe events to start, but we’ve yet to see any sign of that, which isn’t a good sign, especially since this is already the longest wipe ever. August 15th still seems like a likely date for the wipe, but with each day that passes without any news or events, a launch later in August seems more realistic.
