My analysis
Bowden Francis was the star of the game on Saturday, setting a career-high with 12 strikeouts and holding a no-hitter until the ninth inning to help the Toronto Blue Jays to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
For the series finale, the Jays will hand the ball over to Kevin Gausman this afternoon. The veteran will try to keep the Angels’ bats quiet – a task that shouldn’t be too difficult given the visitors’ recent performance.
LA has managed just eight runs in the first three games of the series, though the club’s offensive problems extend well beyond this weekend. The Angels are 2-10 in their last 12 games and have averaged just 2.67 runs per game over that span. They have the league’s fifth-worst offense this season, scoring a modest 3.95 runs per game.
Not surprisingly, the low-scoring Angels have been under in five of their last seven games, while Toronto and LA have been under in seven of their last nine meetings since last season.

My analysis
Ernie Clement has emerged as one of Toronto’s best hitters in the second half. With 20 RBIs in 32 games, he is only behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (26), who leads the team. The third baseman has really stepped up his game in the last two weeks, scoring 11 runs in 10 games.
Clement was 0-for-4 on Saturday, ending a four-game RBI streak that also included a streak of three straight games with a home run, but I think he’ll get back on track this afternoon. Angels starter Tyler Anderson has struggled this month with a 5.96 ERA and was rocked by the Jays on Aug. 14, giving up seven runs.
