Another wet week is ahead in Steamboat Springs

After a dry Tuesday, Steamboat Springs is expected to continue to experience storm risks and precipitation throughout the week.

Local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth publishes local forecasts twice a week on SnowAlarm.com.

In his Sunday forecastHe said a ridge of high pressure and a strong storm are converging over the Bering Sea, bringing further chances of precipitation through Friday.

“Monsoon moisture will again be carried over by southerly winds on the backside of the high pressure system and, along with the southern end of the storm moving northeastward in the Pacific Northwest, will increase the likelihood of strong storms through Wednesday afternoon and throughout the night,” Weissbluth said.

“Due to the trailing energy, the risk of storms remains, at least through Thursday and Friday, as temperatures will cool to above 24 degrees Celsius,” he added.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Weissbluth said he expects a “faster storm” to clear moisture from the region before a slower storm keeps the storm threat in place Saturday.

“In any case, the storm looks strong enough to bring the first autumn cold front through our area sometime next weekend,” Weissbluth said.
