A woman named Lovleen Arun wrote: “This is arrogance on a whole other level from @airindia. Delhi-SFO flight booked for August 18 was arbitrarily cancelled and passengers were offered a flight on August 22.”

However, passengers were asked to fly from Bengaluru to Delhi and then take Delhi-Mumbai-San Francisco. “When they said this was not acceptable, they were offered Delhi-Mumbai-SFO on August 17. Passengers have argued that they would be in Bangalore and this would mean they would fly BLR-Delhi (with a 10-hour stopover) and then take Delhi-Mumbai-SFO. Instead, they were offered BLR-Mumbai-SFO, which was categorically rejected by @airindia,” she further said.

Arun also complained that passengers were losing money due to rebooking and cancelling tickets to get on time. She said, “First they cancel flights at their whim and then they don’t even try to help their customers. There is just no compassion at all!! Losing money on booking, cancelling and rebooking domestic flights is a whole different story.”

Meanwhile, Air India has responded to the X post and apologized for the inconvenience. People also complained that the money gets stuck for a really long time in such cases.

One user said: “One of the things I find even worse about these cancelled international flights is how long this large amount of money is stuck for. Since you are making a last minute transaction, the flight prices are high and the refund takes a long time. And when the bill comes at the end of the month, it is for both amounts and that is a burden if you have a liquidity problem.”
