The aim of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to girl students of the state. Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Asoni is expected to benefit about one million girl students. Assam Nijut Moina Program 2024

In a bid to prevent child marriages, the Assam government on Thursday launched a scheme to provide financial assistance to girl students every month. Nijut Moina Asoni (MMNMA) is expected to benefit about one million girl students and will cost the government Rs 300 crore in the first year and about Rs 1,500 crore over five years.

Objectives of the Assam Nijut Moina Programme

This comprehensive plan is a historic milestone for women’s education in Assam. It was launched by the state government to prevent child marriage and provide a secure future in education to girl students. The main objective of the MMNM plan is to encourage girls to pursue higher education after matriculation. The aim of the program is to improve girls’ chances of a better future by increasing their enrollment in secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate courses through financial assistance.

Features of Assam Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme

Some of the main features of this scheme are listed below:

• The plan would increase the proportion of female students in colleges, universities and schools.
• An additional 200,000 female students are expected to enroll in educational institutions this year.
• The National Family Health Survey 2019-21 revealed that 31.8% of women in the age group of 20-24 years were mothers, which means that the majority of these women had married before the legally permissible age of 18. Therefore, to combat this problem, this programme will be helpful in putting an end to child marriages in the state.
• Students fill out application forms that are sent to the colleges where they are currently enrolled.
• The Registrars/Directors collect and review the application forms through the relevant portal and submit accurate information for automatic site verification. From the second year onwards, there is no need to submit applications.
• In order to receive the benefits, it is sufficient to present a certificate from the university administration confirming continued enrollment.

Benefits of Assam Nijut Moina Scheme 2024

The advantages of this system are listed below:

• Each student who meets the requirements and enters Class 11 will receive an incentive of up to Rs 10,000 per year or Rs 1,000 per month for a maximum of ten months.
• Each qualified first-year female student will receive an incentive of up to Rs 1,250 per month for ten months or a total of Rs 12,500 per year.
• The initiative will also cover the education costs of female students at universities and other educational institutions.
• All qualified female students in the first year after graduation will be paid an incentive of Rs. 2,500 per month for a period not exceeding ten months, totalling Rs. 25,000 per annum.
