Australia’s renowned Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair takes place online for the 18th time

DARWIN, Australia, 8 August 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The world-renowned Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) returns to Larrakia Country in Darwin, Australiaand is online from 9 to 11 August (2024) celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, design and culture.

As the largest event of its kind, DAAF Online is a global mecca for art and culture lovers, gallery owners, collectors and first-time buyers seeking a truly unique shopping experience.

DAAF Online showcases works from more than 40 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art centres, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the rich and diverse contemporary creations of the world’s oldest living cultures. Importantly, the DAAF Foundation also ensures the opportunity to ethically acquire exquisite artworks, with 100 per cent of sales proceeds returning to the artists and their communities.

In the third year of its hybrid model, DAAF Online offers art centers from the most remote regions of the world Australiathe possibility of a global platform. This year, a variety of sought-after works by emerging and established artists from internationally renowned art centers will be presented.

Of the numerous paintings, Harrakitj (Memorial poles), ṉuwayak (bark paintings) and Subscribe (didgeridoo) from the Buku Larrŋgay Mulka in north-east Arnhem Land, to the vibrant large-scale paintings of Iwantja Arts, which come from the rocky desert land of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) country in the remote north-west of South Australia.

This year, only Hermannsburg Potters, based in the remote foothills of the MacDonnell Ranges in Australia’s Northern Territory. Hermannsburg Potters bring the vibrant landscape and spirit of Central Australia to life with their handcrafted terracotta and underglaze pots. The three founding artists celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2023 and continue to practice and pass on their technical skills and cultural knowledge to the next generation.

As the only national event of its kind, DAAF has earned a reputation as one of the most significant and internationally recognized art events in the country.
