Barcelona outsider agrees to extend his contract to facilitate exit

Recent developments suggest that Clement Lenglet is apparently ready to extend his contract with Barcelona to enable a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.

According to journalist Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo, Lenglet has now agreed to the idea that Barcelona must first extend his contract for him to join Diego Simeone’s team so that his salary can be adjusted according to the team’s wishes.

It is said that Lenglet was initially hesitant about this approach. He was not keen on the idea of extending his contract just to help Barcelona spread his salary over a longer period of time.

However, after understanding the situation and the club’s financial needs, he began to see the logic behind it. This change in his attitude was a decisive factor in moving the negotiations forward.

While Barcelona was initially opposed to Lenglet’s move to Atlético Madrid, they eventually agreed to the transfer, especially after the player himself lowered his demands.

The situation changed when Barcelona received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia for the defender, which he rejected. This rejection may have prompted the French international to reconsider his options and agree to a contract extension.

His current contract with Barcelona runs until 2026. The extension will allow the club to finance his high salary over a longer period of time. This strategy will also help Barcelona comply with Financial Fair Play rules.

After a lengthy negotiation process, both parties seem to be getting closer to an agreement and if all goes well, Lenglet’s transfer to Atletico Madrid could soon become a reality, bringing him closer to joining the team this summer.

The deal is getting closer, only a few details need to be clarified.
