Realizing how much homeowners prefer red as a color, Behr conducted a new study that found that more than three-quarters of Americans said they would consider painting a room or wall red. In particular, bedrooms, front doors and accent walls were among the most popular areas where this warm hue was used in interior design.
“We’re seeing people embrace color more than ever before,” says Erika Woelfel, Vice President of Color and Creative Services at Behr Paint Company. “Rumors is a modern take on the timeless red that has an energetic appeal and makes a lasting statement in a stunning way.”
The new study also highlighted the psychological benefits of the color red in interior design: the majority of respondents said that using the color red in interior design gives them an energizing feeling.
This color trend goes hand in hand with one of this year’s most popular interior design trends: the unexpected red theory. This trend, which uses red in small doses to add design value to spaces, shows no signs of slowing down in 2025, and paint colors like Rumors offer a way to embrace this decorating idea in a timeless way. For example, add an accent wall to a neutral room for a more interesting look, or paint furniture this rich red hue to create an unexpected color moment.

In addition to Rumors, Behr also unveiled its 2025 Color Trend Palette, a selection of 16 colors that reflect key trends in the design world. The palette includes both warm and cool tones, as well as light and dark.
In this relaxing bedroom above, ‘Boreal’, a grey-green colour, was used. In addition, there are many more earthy shades for the coming year, including ‘Amazon Jungle’, a deep olive green, and ‘Aerial View’, a sky blue.
If you prefer to decorate with neutral colors, there are many light and airy shades, such as Blank Canvas, a warm white color, Nutmeg Frost, a light peachy brown, and Even Better Beige, a versatile light beige color.
