TLocated on Sixth Street in downtown Redmond, the hotel, originally built in 1906, offers guests a piece of history. The building that guests see today was built in 1928 after the original two-story wooden building burned down a year earlier.
Although the building was used as a hotel for 90% of its time, it has undergone some changes over the years. By the end of the 1990s it had fallen into disrepair. Since the previous owners did not have enough money to renovate it, it changed hands several times over the years.
In 2017, the SCP ownership group partnered with the City of Redmond to share the nearly $7.2 million renovation effort, provide fire protection, and bring the old building back up to code.
Although the hotel reopened in 2019, just before the pandemic, manager Tobias Colvin thanks the community for supporting the business and keeping the hotel afloat. The hotel, which focuses on sustainability and locally sourced goods, offers 49 guest rooms and several unique amenities. It features a rooftop bar and restaurant, Terra Kitchen, which serves plant-based cuisine using ingredients sourced directly from the farm, and a bar, Wayfarer Club, which was also voted runner-up as the best bar in Redmond.
“It’s a really unique hotel in a city that has more standard hotels. We are definitely unique in this market,” Colvin said.
