Best-selling vehicle in the USA with …

If you live in the U.S., you probably know we love our big trucks. In fact, the two best-selling vehicles in the U.S. in July were the Ford F-Series (led by the Ford F-150) and the popular Chevrolet Silverado. The Ram 1500 and GMC Sierra weren’t far behind.

However, trucks aren’t cheap. In July, the average transaction price (ATP) for the F-Series was over $67,000; the ATP for the Silverado was over $60,000. That’s nothing compared to the GMC Hummer EV pickup and the Tesla Cybertruck.

Accordingly Kelley Blue Book, “Last month, two all-electric pickup trucks traded for over $100,000 – the GMC Hummer EV pickup ($111,242) and the Tesla Cybertruck ($111,018).”

Additionally, Kelley Blue Book states that the Cybertruck is “the best-selling vehicle in the United States priced over $100,000.” That’s quite an accomplishment. However, we don’t have exact sales figures for the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck recall numbers suggest Tesla may have produced as many as 12,000 Cybertrucks in the second quarter. So Tesla produced an average of about 4,000 Cybertrucks per month during the April-June period. Other data suggests Tesla sold 8,755 Cybertrucks in the second quarter of 2024. That equates to about 3,000 units sold per month in the second quarter of 2024.

However, July is the beginning of the third quarter and production is ramping up to higher volumes, so 4,000 to 6,000 Cybertrucks may have been sold in July. However, this is only an educated estimate.

Kelley Blue Book and Cox Car also present some interesting insights into the average transaction prices for electric vehicles in general and Tesla in particular.

Kelley’s Blue Book is it[called:

The average transaction price for an electric vehicle in July was $56,520, higher than in June but 1.5% lower than a year ago. The average incentive package offered with a new electric vehicle in July was over 12% of the transaction price.

The publication states about Tesla:

Average transaction prices at Tesla continue to rise after falling to near the industry average in December 2023. In July, Tesla’s ATPs were $59,593, up 11% from a year ago and at their highest level since February 2023.

At Tesla, this increase is mainly due to higher sales of the Cybertruck. However, the Model Y and Model 3 have also seen higher ATPs in recent months.

In July, the ATP for the Model Y was $52,055, up 5% from January, while the Model 3 was priced at $53,878, a remarkable 30% higher than January, when the ATP for the Model 3 was $41,531.
