BI catches three Chinese who were allegedly involved in kidnapping

Bureau of Immigration (BI) officials arrested three Chinese fugitives wanted in the Philippines and China for a range of suspected criminal activities.

The suspects were identified as Jun Chen (28), Hongru Zhang (26) and Hao Zhen (27) and were nabbed by BI-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) operatives in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City on August 13.

The city police have filed criminal charges against them for robbery, aggravated assault, deprivation of liberty, possession of weapons and illegal drug trafficking in connection with the alleged kidnapping and illegal detention of a Vietnamese victim.

“They cannot be deported until the criminal proceedings against them are concluded. If convicted, they must first serve their sentence in prison,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

According to Rendel Ryan Sy, vice chairman of BI-FSU, two of the three Chinese nationals have arrest warrants issued by the Public Security Bureau in Jinjiang, China, while the other has overstayed in the country. They are illegal immigrants as their passports have already been cancelled by the Chinese government.
