Big names are set to flourish at FedEx St. Jude

Welcome to Power Rankings, a weekly feature on SI Golf from our partners at KeyCompete. This week, the top 70 players on the PGA Tour’s regular season points list head to Memphis to begin the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Here’s how our model sees them shaping up.

It’s Week 1 of the FedEx Playoffs, held at TPC Southwind. Designed by Ron Prichard and opened in 1988, the course has undergone several upgrades to maintain its competitiveness. This week it’s a par 70, 669 yards, with a mix of long par 4s and tricky par 3s. Accuracy off the tee and precision on approach shots will be key. Here are 10 players our model likes this week.

(Odds via DraftKings)

10. (+3000) – Corey Conners: His consistency is evident in his strong iron play and his reliable putting. Tee-to-green is his game. T9 at the Olympics.

9. (+2500) – Tommy Fleetwood: His dynamic game and strategic approach make him an impressive player. He should adapt well to Southwind’s nuances. Fresh from the silver medal at the Olympics.

8. (+2500) – Hideki Matsuyama: Just a solid all-around game, including his famous putting and approach game. Contended for gold at the Olympics before slipping to bronze.

7. (+3000) – Tom Kim: Known for aggressive play and strong putting, the narrow track requires a balance between risk and reward. Youthful energy and confidence can’t hurt.

6. (+4000) – Sahith Theegala: Another player with an aggressive style and impressive stroke technique. Scrambling skills will be crucial. The owner of the third best strokes has increased in numbers this week.

5. (+2000) – Ludvig Aeberg: The talented young Swede has a combination of tee length and approach precision to keep up.

4. (+1200) – Collin Morikawa: Exceptional iron player when on form. Hasn’t made much of an impact this season despite playing in two majors. T24 at Olympia.

3. (+900) – Rory McIlroy: The season has been full of near misses, but distance and accuracy will be of great use here. Could end this season on a high note. T5 at the Olympics.

2. (+700) – Xander Schauffele: The two-time major winner this year has reached new heights. His all-round skills and consistency make him dangerous everywhere. T9 in Paris.

1. (+330) – Scottie Scheffler: The world number 1 and new Olympic champion is riding the wave of success of a dream season. Still the man to beat.

After an opening day delay, the Wyndham Championship got rolling and concluded after three jam-packed days with Aaron Rai earning his first PGA Tour victory. KeyCompete brought our matchup betting record for the year to 145-79.
