Blue Lotus Jazz performs at museum – Times-Standard

This month’s “Wine & Jazz” program – scheduled for Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, 636 F St., Eureka – features music by Blue Lotus Jazz.

Blue Lotus Jazz will play swing and bossa jazz. The ensemble consists of Nalini Cogswell, guitar and vocals, and Dave Wilson, guitar.

The two artists love to explore the romantic side of jazz. Their vision is to play exceptional jazz, but most of all to have fun while making music. Blue Lotus Jazz has been playing throughout Humboldt County for more than a decade and performs many concerts at venues throughout the county.

Wilson plays a seven-string guitar to enhance the duo’s guitar sound. This adds a bass dimension to the pair’s sonic aesthetic, which, combined with Cogswell’s guitar and vocals, allows the duo to create a wide range of sounds. Wilson has been a professional musician and teacher for over 40 years.

During this month’s “Wine & Jazz” afternoon, the Museum will also celebrate the birthday of Marcy Manning, longtime Humboldt Arts Council member/supporter and local artist.

Suggested admission is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors (65 and older), veterans, and students with ID; admission is free for children under 17, families with an EBT card and valid ID, and museum members.
