Blue Note Bourbon releases limited edition Honey Rye Cask Expression

Blue Note Bourbon, the whiskey portfolio that honors the blues music of Memphis, has launched a limited edition Honey Rye Cask.

The new bottling’s journey began with the art of fusion. American oak barrels used for finishing were reused to create a delicious locally sourced barrel-aged honey. The team then returned the whisky, aged for a minimum of three years, to the honeyed barrels for another round of maturation to create a distinctive and harmonious profile.

The new variant is produced in Memphis and features a classic mash of 95% rye and 5% barley malt, bottled at an alcohol content of 58.6% (117.2 proof).

“Limited release bottlings like our Honey Rye Cask allow our team to unleash their creativity and shine a spotlight on special bottlings,” said Logan Welk, president and chief operating officer of BR Distilling Company, in a press release. “The bold and spicy notes of Blue Note, mixed with the nuanced flavors of wildflower honey, create a complex balance of strength and sweetness.”

Blue Note Honey Rye Whiskey is now available online at BlueNoteBourbon.com and Seelbachs.com and in the following markets: CT, FL, GA, KS, MA, MO, NJ, NY, RI, TN and TX. Suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle is $64.99 (may vary by market).

Blue Note’s line of whiskeys is distilled in partnership with the Bardstown Bourbon Company (parent company of Green River Distilling Company) and then aged north of downtown Memphis, where the Mississippi and Wolf Rivers converge. The long summers, with Memphis’ notorious heat and cooler evenings, force the whiskey deep into the oak, creating a distinctively rich flavor that is bold yet smooth.

Over the years, Blue Note has released several highly awarded limited edition offerings, including Premium Small Batch, Single Barrel Reserve, 17-Year and Special Reserve.
