Blue Protocol ended, western release cancelled

Bandai Namco has announced its anime-inspired MMORPG Blue Protocol will be closed in Japan and will no longer be released in the West. In a blog post, the studio confirmed all services for Blue Protocol ends on January 18, 2025 and further work has been stopped.

Amazon Games was supposed to release a western version of the game by the end of 2024, but that agreement has now been canceled due to doubts about the game’s future success.

“We have maintained a close relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocoland both our teams are disappointed that we cannot deliver the game to players around the world,” Bandai Namco Online said.

No further details were provided regarding the closure of Blue Protocol and its discontinuation in the western markets. From what we hear, it seems to be a very sudden decision and one that the team at Bandai Namco Online did not necessarily anticipate.
