Blue Protocol ends in Japan, worldwide release cancelled

Bandai Namco announced that the service for Blue Protocol in Japan and Amazon also confirmed that the worldwide release has been cancelled due to the shutdown. The Japanese version will remain active until January 18, 2025.

The announcement appeared on both the Japanese and English websites of the MMORPG. There is also a Japanese video that goes over the announcement and the final roadmap. The team will continue to add new content and update the game until it closes. The paid Rose Orbs currency will no longer be sold and there will be no refunds for these purchases. Bandai Namco will give out 5,000 Rose Orbs on the first day of every month starting in September 2024 and until January 2025. Players can receive 250 Rose Orbs every day. Starting with the just-released ninth season, they can also get the season pass for free.

Here is Bandai Namco’s full English statement on the closure of Blue Protocol and the global version is cancelled:

We regret to inform you that the Japanese version of Blue Protocol will cease operations on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Since the Japanese version has been discontinued, we are no longer able to continue development of the Amazon Games version. Therefore, after consulting with Amazon Games, we have decided to cancel the release of this title in the US and Europe. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Amazon Games has high expectations for Blue protocol, Since the two companies have had a good relationship so far and have made preparations, we are very disappointed.

We want to provide an experience that makes you feel immersed in the world of anime.

The project has taken on the challenge of creating a world in which every single player can experience an adventure as the protagonist of an anime.

Since the announcement, you have all been waiting for the game and we have been making preparations for its release. However, we have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to provide a service that would satisfy you all and therefore we have decided to cancel the release of the Amazon Games version.

We deeply apologize to everyone for this sudden announcement.

Bandai Namco Online announced that they have made the difficult decision to shut down the service on Blue protocol. They will have their Japanese Blue Protocol servers in January 2025 and have ended plans to release the game in the West in collaboration with Amazon Games.

In the statement about the discontinuation of the service, Bandai Namco Online said: “We have been working with you throughout the development of Blue Protocoland both our teams are disappointed that we cannot deliver the game to players around the world.”

Before the closure notice, Bandai Namco regularly added new content Blue Protocol. Chapter 6 was released in June 2024. After the launch, new classes also appeared. One of them was the Beat Performer and another was the Blitz Lancer.

We had a feeling that there were problems with Blue Protocol before this recent announcement. In February 2024, a report from Bandai Namco suggested that performance was too low. In a June 2024 Famitsu interview with the developers, director Keisuke Fukuzaki said they would pay attention to when they notice player losses and try to fix the causes.

Blue Protocol is available in Japan until January 18, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X and Windows PC, the worldwide release has been canceled.
