Blue Protocol is discontinued, release in the West cancelled

Bandai Namco Online announced that it is discontinuing MMORPG Blue Protocol. The game’s Japanese servers will be shut down on January 18, 2025, while a planned western release in collaboration with Amazon Games has been canceled. Bandai Namco Online issued the following statement:

We regret to inform you that the Japanese version of Blue Protocol will be discontinued on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

For this reason, we have also abandoned our plans to release a western version of the game in collaboration with Amazon Games. We have been working hard throughout the development of Blue Protocoland both our teams are disappointed that we cannot deliver the game to players around the world.

We know that there is great anticipation for Blue Protocol since the game was first announced. We wanted to provide an experience that felt like immersing yourself in the world of the anime, and we challenged ourselves to create a world where every single player could experience adventures as the main character of the anime. We worked hard to prepare for the release, but came to the conclusion that it would not be possible to provide a service that satisfied everyone.

We deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.

Blue Protocol will be released in June 2023 for PC in Japan, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions following in December 2023. The game is set on the planet Regnus, which was once ruled by a group of god-like beings called the Bapharian Divines. It is set many years after that time, with the remains of the Bapharian civilization reduced to treasure and ruins. The planet is filled with a mystical light called the Engram and is said to hold a dark secret called the Planetary Beast.
