Blue Raiders host North Alabama to kick off Week 3

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women’s soccer team (1-2-0) will open Week 3 with a game against the North Alabama Lions (1-2-0) on Thursday, August 29, at the Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.

This week’s game will be the first meeting between the Blue Raiders and North Alabama in the history of both programs.

About Middle Tennessee

The Blue Raiders picked up their first win of the 2024 fall season on August 25 with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at Dean A. Hayes Stadium.

The Blue Raiders rebounded from their loss to the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns on August 22 in Lafayette and started the first home game of the season with their first win.

Three different Blue Raiders scored against Tennessee Tech, with Emma Pettersen She scored her second goal of the season, her team’s best goal, and Manon Lebargy And Idun Kvaale their first goal. As a team, Middle Tennessee scored 17 shots on goal, 11 of which were on target. Goalkeeper Demi Gronauer She was able to improve her season tally by three saves, bringing her total to 16.

Pettersen is currently the Blue Raiders’ top scorer with two goals, one assist and five points in 2024. Lebargy, Kvaale and midfielders Arasaki Rose have scored two goals each this season, adding one goal and one assist to their tally.

About North Alabama

North Alabama enters the third week of play in 2024 with a current record of 1-2. The Lions defeated UT Martin 1-0 in their season opener at the Florence Sportsplex. Since then, the Lions have suffered two losses to Jacksonville State on August 18, a 5-0 loss to the Gamecocks, and to the Alabama Crimson Tide on August 22, a 3-1 loss in Tuscaloosa.

Sophomore midfielder Giada Aldini and freshman forward Hope Lensing were the Lions’ co-scorers in the first three games of the season.
