Blue Water Folk Society’s Thumbfest returns to Lexington on Saturday

LEXINGTON – The Blue Water Folk Society hosts the 22nd annual Thumbfest Music Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“Thumbfest is a free, family-friendly celebration of acoustic music with a diverse lineup of talented musicians. Attendees can look forward to a wide range of musical genres, including traditional folk music, Celtic music, blues, Americana and more,” organizers said in a press release.

Who is performing?

Participants in this year’s festival include Creole du Nord, Rev. Robert Jones, Mustard’s Retreat, The Whiskey Charmers, Finvarra’s Wren, Ironwood, Hot Rod Cherries and 42 other local and regional acts performing on multiple stages throughout Lexington.

“Music lovers will have the opportunity to discover new artists and enjoy old favorites, as well as participate in jam sessions, workshops, song circles and open mics,” organizers said.

What else can you do?

In addition to the music, visitors can explore local crafts, stop by food stalls and relax in the lake’s atmosphere.

What about parking?

A free shuttle bus will be available to the various stages throughout the day. Parking is plentiful and free throughout the city.

What is the Blue Water Folk Society?

The Blue Water Folk Society is a non-profit organization that promotes and preserves folk music and culture in the Blue Water Area. Through events such as Thumbfest, the society provides an opportunity for musicians and music lovers to network and share their passion for acoustic music.
