Bomb threat against Tamil Nadu Prime Minister Stalin's flight turns out to be hoax

CHENNAI: There was a tense situation at Chennai airport on Tuesday evening after the airport authorities received an email threatening that the flight carrying Tamil Nadu Prime Minister M.K. Stalin was about to take off en route to San Francisco.
According to sources, the mail was originally sent to Cochin airport and was then forwarded to Chennai airport officials.
“The email did not mention the airlines, but only said that the bombs had been placed on the flight CM was flying to San Francisco. Security personnel were alerted and conducted checks on the Emirates flight to Dubai, as they normally do on flights with VIP passengers. It was confirmed that it was a False reportairport sources said.
CM Stalin has left for the US on his 20-day tour. He will attend various programmes and meet investors in San Francisco and Chicago. He is accompanied by officials and his wife Durga Stalin.
The Chennai City Police were informed about the false report Bomb threatand a special team from the Cybercrime Department are trying to determine the origin of the email.
Police officials said the email was sent through the Tor browser, making it difficult to trace its origin. All bomb threats sent to the airport in the past two months were sent through the Tor browser, officials said.
There have been about ten fake bomb threats at Chennai airport in the last two months.
