As proof that if not Hasbro, then at least someone is interested enough in the iconic western Sentai adaptation to do something with it, BOOM! Studios has announced in the wake of the recent ending that they will soon be doing a complete reboot of their entire Power Rangers Comic series.

According to an official press release from the publisher on August 22nd, Morphin’ Grid will launch in November with a brand new series titled Power Rangers.
The author is said to be Melissa Flores, a long-time writer on the series who has written several episodes of Power Rangers HyperForce and the finale of the last comic series Darkest hour Event, with pictures from Iron Fist Volume 6 Artist Michael Yg, this new series is said to “usher in a new era in the Rangers mythos.”
“Power Rangers are BACK and better than ever!” reads the official synopsis of the first issue. “Students at Angel Grove University are faced with a difficult decision after encountering a fugitive straight out of legend. The consequences of hiding her are devastating… but her existence may not remain secret for long. In the wake of Darkest hourprepare for a bold new era and a brand new story unlike anything that has come before! A perfect day one entry point for new readers and old fans alike!”

It seems that this new publishing initiative will be a sort of relaunch in the style of “Ultimate Marvel”, in which the previously established Red Samurai Ranger Lauren finds herself alone and on the run from a group of Eltarian soldiers who want to steal her powers for their own purposes.
And if the cover of the issue, drawn by Batman/Superman: The Best of the World Volume 1 If the outcome of Dan Mora’s creation is any indication, it looks like Lauren will ultimately be endowed with the full power of the Morphin’ Grid, which in turn will seemingly give her access to a new, more “souped up” version of the Mighty Morphin’ Red suit.

When announcing the series, the aforementioned Flores beamed: “With Power Rangerswe bring comics into a newly imagined world!”
“Familiar characters and locations will appear in unexpected ways, but this is an entirely new adventure – a crazy journey that I can’t wait to share with you, and that beats at the heart of what it means to be a Power Ranger,” she added. “With designs by Dan Mora and art by the incredible Michael Yg, I’m honestly just blown away and so grateful to be a part of it!”
Yg also explained graciously: “What have I done to deserve a Power Rangers Book?”
“Seriously!” the artist exclaimed. “In the 90s, children my age in China only got to see a handful of American shows and cartoons, and they were simply priceless! We rushed home from school to watch them, no matter how mad our parents were for not spending the time studying. But I didn’t regret it, because Power Rangers was one of the best.”
“Now not only am I drawing it, but the book is written by the incredibly talented Melissa Flores and designed by Dan Mora, one of my favorite artists that I look up to,” he continued. “So, for the team, for my younger self, and most of all for you, I’m putting my heart and soul into this book! I can’t wait for you to read it.”
Currently Power Rangers Prime Volume 1 #1 is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 13th.
In addition to a standard cover by Mora, the edition will also feature variant covers designed by The Prodigy Volume 1 Artist Juni Ba, well-known industry cover artist InHyuk Lee, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Variant cover artist Bon Bernardo, Catwoman Volume 5 Author and illustrator Joëlle Jones, UK-based graphic designer Doaly and Blue Beetle Volume 7 Artist Rafael Albuquerque.
