Brockport Football 2024 Schedule, Top Players, Blue Devils Preview

play

Brockport welcomes a new regime.

However, new head coach Paul Carella is no newcomer to the Blue Devils program. He is a former Brockport player and has been part of the coaching staff since 2004.

Carella has many experienced players back who will look to top their two-win season in 2023. Senior quarterback Landon Scott is in his third season as a starter. Scott has a strong arm and has recovered from a torn ACL. Senior receivers Tyler Judd – a track and field star – and Azay Odey should also be solid starts to their third seasons.

Judd and Odey are also solid players in the defensive backfield. Senior Brayden Scaccia has been playing linebacker since his sophomore year. Senior two-way lineman Shayne Lessar is a team leader with great size alongside classmate Dale Doty. Juniors Jordan Wickham and Dylan Fitzgerald also have potential on the line.

Top games for Brockport

There’s no doubt that Brockport will be ready for the season-opening Port Bowl. The Blue Devils’ long-standing rivalry with Spencerport continues after the loss to the Rangers in 2023. In 2022, Scott threw a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion in the final minute of a shootout win. Brockport will then visit Greece Athena before hosting new Class A opponent Monroe after the Red Jackets advance to the semifinals in Class B in 2023. A series against East High and at Canandaigua in October could have huge playoff implications.
