Brown suggests Trump’s imagination took wings

Donald Trump told a harrowing story during his press conference on Thursday about being in a helicopter with Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco, that had to make an emergency landing. “I crashed in a helicopter with him,” Trump told reporters. “We thought maybe that was the end.” The near-death experience was new for Brown, who said he had never been in a helicopter with Trump before. Brown, who also likes to tell a good story, according to the New York Timestold a reporter, “You know me well enough to know that if I almost crashed in a helicopter with anybody, you would have heard about it.”

Brown also called Trump about a conversation the former president allegedly had in the helicopter. Trump said Brown told him he was “not a fan” of Vice President Kamala Harris. Brown said he did not say anything like that to Trump — not in a helicopter or anywhere else. “That is as true as any other part of what you are asking me,” Brown told the San Francisco Chronicle. “No, that’s not true at all.” Brown and Harris dated for about a year in the mid-1990s. There were no lingering grudges, he said, telling the paper’s Joe Garofoli that it was “absolutely fabulous that someone we both know is about to make history at the highest level possible in America.” (More stories on Donald Trump 2024.)
