Bruce Springsteen leaves local business owner starstruck after placing a large order

Bruce Springsteen recently left a waitress at a Jersey Shore restaurant in awe when he stopped by to drop off a large order of takeout food – although not everyone was aware that they were in the presence of rock greats.

As NJ.com reported, Springsteen stopped by Max’s Bar and Grill in Long Branch on Saturday, August 10, to pick up a particularly large takeout order: five dozen hot dogs.

“He came in and the hostess was young and didn’t know who he was,” said the bar manager Mary Kate Schiller.

“I was like, ‘Oh, hello,'” Schiller said. “And I tried really hard, I really tried really hard, to treat him like a normal guy.”

Schiller was momentarily confused when Springsteen ordered five dozen uncooked hot dogs along with buns, sauerkraut and the restaurant’s signature spicy red sauce.

“They come in packs of eight and I’m terrible at math,” Schiller said.

After completing the star’s order, Schiller found his courage and asked for a photo.

“I said, ‘Sir, my parents are going to be so mad at me if I don’t take your picture,’ and he was gracious,” she said, adding, “He looks exactly the same from the back row at Met Life Stadium as he does in real life.”

This is not the first time the musician has visited Max’s Bar and Grill. During the pandemic, he mentioned the venue on a radio show as a place he missed during lockdown.

Jeremy Allen White will play Springsteen in the upcoming film Free me from nothingness, based on the non-fiction book of the same name by Warren Zanes. A premiere date has not yet been set, but filming is scheduled to begin in the fall, reports esquire.
