An Air India flight attendant was allegedly attacked by an intruder at a London hotel earlier this week, according to sources familiar with the incident. The airline is working closely with local police to resolve the situation.
In a statement, an Air India spokesperson expressed deep concern over the “illegal break-in at a hotel belonging to a major international chain, which affected one of our crew members.” According to sources, a homeless man broke into the female crew member’s hotel room near London Heathrow Airport and assaulted her. Her cries for help alerted guests nearby, who intervened and arrested the intruder, news agency PTI reported.
While one source claimed that the crew member was sexually assaulted, two other sources suggested that it was a physical attack, PTI reported. The airline has provided all possible support to the crew member, including professional counselling, and is working with law enforcement to ensure justice is done.
“Air India is also working with the hotel management to prevent future incidents,” the statement added. The airline urged the public to respect the privacy of those affected during this difficult time.
