Butler County hosts “Red, White and Blue Butler Revival” after shooting at Trump rally

BUTLER, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – Residents of Butler County gathered Saturday night for what they called the “Red, White and Blue Revival.”

Organizers say this revival was about many things, like music and prayer, but not politics. The grounds of the Bonniebrook restaurant in Butler County were the setting for today’s event.

What is the main message the organizers wanted to convey?

“Unity. We are here at the rally after the shooting. We wanted to bring the community together for a resurrection event,” said organizer Zach Scherer.

The shooting was the Attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a political rally at the Butler Fairgrounds.

“To bring everyone together, to unite, not red, not white, not blue, just us as people, just loving each other like God intended,” said event sponsor Gary Burk Jr.

Music groups, local politicians and clergy spoke to those present.

“Everyone who comes here to speak, every band that comes here tonight has donated their time.”

While the crowd clearly appeared to be made up of supporters of the former president, Scherer told KDKA-TV otherwise.

“Not red, not blue. We are Americans. We are blessed to have everyone here.”

Another goal of the event, organizers said, was to offer mental health support to people still struggling with the trauma of recent events in Butler County.
