Cadets of the class of 2028 march for the first time at Fish Review

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – It was an exciting day for the newest members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets as they marched in the Fish Review.

The morning began with a take off on the quad bike. The cadets then marched to the Simpson Drill Field to inspect the fish.

On the field, the new cadets pledged their commitment to the discipline that comes with membership in the Corps of Cadets.

Corps Commander Deandre Macri says this is an exciting time for the new class of members.

“This shows that they are part of the Corps, the heartbeat of the university, and that they are committed to the discipline they are going to achieve,” Macri said.

The fish meeting takes place after a week of training for the cadets.

“It’s really nice to see all the Fish finally be part of the core. They finally get to do their first march with all their outfits and half of their seniors and it’s kind of their first Aggie Corps experience, as I like to call it,” said Aurora Villarreal, public relations officer for the Corps of Cadets.

The Corps of Cadets will also receive new leadership on Monday after President General Mark Welsh III appointed retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Loyd S. “Chip” Utterback as interim commander.

Utterback will serve as interim commander once the current commander, Brigadier General Patrick R. Michaelis, assumes his new role as special assistant to the President of Texas A&M, General Mark Welsh III.
